Dreamers and Their Families: Impacts of Anti-Immigrant Sentiment on Immigrant Communities in Minnesota

America has long been a welcoming land of the free, where for generations immigrants have come seeking freedom from hunger; better lives for their children; and refuge from genocide, brutality, and intolerance. However, our society’s attitudes toward immigrants is centered around a complex set of rapidly changing political and economic forces at work. 

DACA, a form of deferred action, has been at the center of these debates for years. While DACA recipients, frequently called "dreamers", are in the United States legally, they often face hateful rhetoric and backlash from  citizens who feel that they should return to the country they were born in.  This CLE will explore the real-life legal, and emotional impacts of anti-immigrant sentiment, on Dreamers who have lived in the US nearly their entire life, and call America "home."
