Getting Started with Practical Cataloging
August 24, 2021

Have you found yourself responsible for cataloging with no previous experience? Are you looking for some answers about where to start? Attend this session to learn the basics of cataloging. Instead of dwelling on theory, this class will give you the tools you need to catalog in the real world. Topics covered include an overview of cataloging, an introduction to the integrated library system (ILS),
and workflows for copy cataloging. Time for questions and discussion of particular issues will be included. You will leave this class with the tools you need to get your library's materials cataloged and in the hands of your patrons.

Presenter: Emily Nimsakont

Emily Nimsakont is the Cataloging and Metadata Trainer at Amigos Library Services. She previously worked as Head of Cataloging and Resource Management at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s Schmid Law Library. She holds a master’s degree in library science from the University of Missouri-Columbia, and she is currently the Vice President of the Nebraska Library Association.
