Discussion with Ryan Dowd

2019-09-16

This is a discussion among SEFLIN Member libraries and Ryan Dowd related to staff enrollment and participation in the eCourse "Librarian's Guide to Homelessness."

About Ryan Dowd

Ryan Dowd is the Executive Director of Hesed House, the second largest homeless shelter in the state of Illinois.  He is the author of The Librarian's Guide to Homelessness: An Empathy-Driven Approach to Solving Problems, Preventing Conflict, And Serving Everyone and developer of the eCourse Practical Tips for Dealing with People Experiencing Homelessness.

Ryan has devoted his career to helping librarians deal effectively with the difficult situations that arise every day within the library--diffusing conflicts, enforcing rules, and responding with compassion with a focus on helping the library catalyze real change within the community.
