We are surrounded by 1 and 2 dimensional (QR) barcodes everywhere in our lives. These ubiquitous codes might be holding a stock number, a work order number, a link to a document, a training video or most any other data. Relative to work management, the most common application of the barcode is for asset, work order and material stock numbers. The barcode is only useful if we have an application that is capable of reading this data usually eliminating manual keystrokes. This presentation will take the user from defining and printing barcode labels to using CMMS and other ‘apps’ to scan this codes in order to introduce efficiencies into the work management process. Topics covered will include hardware and software, label material and work environment.
