EPDM - Past, Present and Future
EPDM is the designation given for a saturated polymer chain of the polymethylene type, consisting of ethylene, propylene, and diene. This presentation is a broad overview of the EPDM process/product technology. Topics include the historical evolution of the catalyst and process technology and the impact it has had on polymer structure, properties, and applications. A comparison of the processes used to make EPDM with Ziegler-Natta catalysts and metallocene catalysts will be presented. The range of products produced between these two platforms will be discussed, highlighting the breadth of product characteristics.
