Carter Heim brings to our clients 30 years of experience serving
business, owners, and organizations. He focuses on innovative planning
for businesses and their owners, as well as litigation support. He
specializes in integrating various disciplines to serve clients. He
applies expertise he has gained across income taxation, estate taxation,
business valuations, as well as business and financial planning. In
addition to ongoing business and financial planning, Carter crafts plans
and solutions to address a wide range of needs including succession
planning, estate tax planning, business growth, and the sale or purchase
of businesses. Due to Carter's unique approach and depth of experience he
is also highly effective at facilitating strategic planning retreats, team
advisory boards, and client advisory boards.
A
native of Baltimore, Carter graduated from the University of Maryland at
College Park with a Bachelor degree in Accounting in 1975. He graduated
from the University of Baltimore with a Master of Science in Taxation
degree in 1984. Carter started in public accounting with Faw, Casson
& Company in 1975 and passed the CPA exam in 1977. He formed Hammond
& Heim, Chartered, with Jimmy Hammond in 1984. In July of 1995, he
launched Heim & Associates, the predecessor of HeimLantz. In 1997,
Carter received the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants
(AICPA) Certificate of Educational Achievement in business
valuations. In 2010 Carter received the Certified in Financial
Forensics designation awarded by the American Institute of Certified
Public Accountants.
An
active leader in the accounting profession, Carter is a member and past
president of the Maryland Association of Certified Public Accountants
(MACPA) and a member of the Board of Directors of the American Institute
of Certified Public Accountants. Carter has taught many continuing
education programs for the Maryland Association of CPAs and the American
Institute of CPAs.
