W13: Update on the Science and Clinical Use of PRP, PRF, and Recombinant Growth Factors
(Event: 63rd AAID Annual Meeting 2014)

Nov 07, 2014 8:00am - Nov 07, 2014 11:59am
Session Type: Workshop
Track: AGD Subject Code 691

Description
The clinical use of autologous and recombinant growth factors is progressing rapidly in medicine and dentistry. This presentation will examine the most recent advances in PRP and PRF techniques and will highlight the advantages and disadvantages of each. An update of available recombinant growth factors will be presented. Choosing the right technique will improve the predictability of the clinical outcome and will have a significant financial impact on procedure costs. Algorithms for selecting the best growth-factor technique to meet individual procedure requirements will be presented.

Learning Objectives: Attendees can expect to learn the following from this presentation:
1. Scientific advances in the clinical use of PRP, PRF and recombinant growth factors
2. Process of obtaining autologous growth factors through PRP and PRF
3. How recombinant growth factors are produced
4. Scientific rationale and the practical applications for using PRP, PRF and recombinant growth factors in bone grafting procedures
5. Develop a clinical algorithm for determining the best treatment option
6. Future direction of autologous and recombinant growth factors in medicine and dentistry
