2017 DGAC 39th Annual Summit Program Schedule.
39th DGAC Annual Summit and Dangerous Goods Transportation Exposition
October 23 – 25, 2017
The Summit is open to DGAC members and non-members alike and will feature an exhibit hall and top notch speakers bringing you up to date on the latest developments in the world of dangerous goods.
The festivities start out with an ice-breaker on Sunday evening and the official opening of the conference begins with the keynote address at 8:30 on Monday morning. The Exhibit Hall will open on Monday afternoon and remain open until the conference adjourns on Wednesday at lunch time. After a break for lunch, DGAC members are invited to stick around and participate in the DGAC pre-UN meeting as we discuss the papers and develop DGAC positions on issues on the agendas for the UN TDG and GHS Sub-Committee meetings starting in late November.
Attendees will hear from senior DOT officials on their latest hazmat initiatives, get updates on what’s going on in the DG programs at the UN, ICAO, IMO, US modal agencies, Canada, and Mexico. Breakout sessions will discuss non-accident releases (NARs), Canada’s Emergency Response Assistance Plans (ERAPs), and Biohazards. Other planned topics of interest include an enforcement officer’s perspective from the field and the hugely popular “speed dating the experts” where for one session the conference hall is set up with round tables of 10 or fewer seats and the speakers and other experts join the audience for an unscripted and informal simultaneous small group discussion-time driven by questions from the audience.
Tuesday will feature an Awards Luncheon where DGAC will present a deserving recipient with the George L. Wilson Award in recognition of significant contributions to safety in dangerous goods transportation. [Recipients are not required to be DGAC members and nominations are welcome from all, so if you have a worthy candidate in mind, click here to make a nomination.]
Attendees will also have plenty of networking opportunities, exhibitors featuring products and services that support the DG transportation community, and door prizes and giveaways.
