PACTA’s New Director’s Academy, Part 1, is a 30-hour PIL for new Directors (less than five years of experience), current administrators aspiring to the Director’s position, or current Directors who desire a more in-depth understanding of the critical aspects of their roles and responsibilities, and desire to network with their peers. The course will be delivered through 14 contact hours:  two, in-person sessions (seven-hour session and four-hour Report-out session) and three monthly one-hour mentoring sessions at your school with your CT DSL to provide the maximum opportunity for participants to complete the job-embedded assignments of the course.  If your school does not have a CT DSL assigned to it through the Technical Assistance Program (TAP), you may have to travel to another school site.

The first full day (7 hours) session will cover Entry Plan and Curriculum Plan.  The mentoring sessions with the CTDSL will cover (1) Changing school culture; (2) Building relationships, and (3) Leadership styles.  The half-day session, which is a Report-out session will be scheduled for December 2019.  The job embedded assignments (16 hours) are (1) Entry Plan; (2) Curriculum Plan.  Participants will deliver a presentation to the PIL participants of either the Entry Plan or Curriculum Plan during the Report-out Session.

Participants should bring a laptop to the first session.

Administrators will gain skill and evidence for components of the Framework for Leadership in Domains 1a, 1b, 2b, 2d, 2e, 3b, 3c, 4a, 4c.
