Course description:

This class introduces real estate professionals to the role of Accessory Dwelling Units (ADU’s) in addressing the housing and affordability crisis in Washington State. It provides an overview of the legal requirements for ADU’s, the flexibility of ADUS, types, costs and financial benefits of them and the ADU development process. Expert practitioners from municipal planning, design, building, lending, real estate and financial professionals will share their expertise and lessons learned. 

Class overview:

Section 1: Introduction to ADU’s- PowerPoint and general terms and benefits; why understanding ADU’s role is important for all real estate agents (Brenda Nunes)

Section 2: Financing options, cash flow analysis and appraisal strategies. (Art Nunes)

Section 3: The process of putting one in place from design to permitting and installation. Looking at the pros and cons of options including prefab/modular, off the shelf designs, and custom designs. Hear practical lessons learned from the pros. Facilitated discussion by Brenda Nunes

IMPORTANT! Attendance requirements: Live online course will be presented via ZOOM Meeting. The link to join the meeting will be sent in the confirmation email. Students will need a device with two-way video and audio capabilities and a (free) Zoom account. To verify attendance, students must keep their camera on for the duration of the course and respond to live polls. Clock hour credit will only be given to students with their camera on, who are present and visible on their camera during the course, and who participate in course polls/chat.
