“CBCT Utilization at the University of Detroit Mercy – Experiences & Direction for the Future”

Lecture Synopsis:
This lecture is designed to provide information on current Cone Beam technology (I-CAT) that is now utilized in the Orthodontic Department at the University of Detroit Mercy. The integration of this technology in the departments of orthodontics, radiology, oral-facial pain, as well as the research arena will be addressed. In particular various clinical findings visible in 3D imaging will be shown and discussed in their relationship to clinical treatment. In addition, the advantages, limitations, and future uses of this technology will also be discussed.

Educational Objectives:
1) Participants will understand the use of cone beam technology in the Orthodontic Department at UDM.
2) Participants will appreciate the relationship that exists between orthodontics, radiology and the oral-facial pain clinics in the utilization of cone beam technology.
3) Participants will appreciate the ways in which cone beam imaging can improve orthodontic diagnosis and treatment planning.
4) Participants will understand how cone beam technology can improve the educational process in an Orthodontic Department.
