Join the PEAK Grantmaking Rocky Mountain Regional Chapter for a local viewing, luncheon, and discussion of the Bring Your Brave Face, We’re Talking Race and Equity (PEAK2019) webinar hosted by PEAK Grantmaking.
In continuation of a lively learning experience at the 2019 PEAK Grantmaking Annual Conference in Denver, we invite you to extend yourself again in an interactive opportunity to discuss and process current events in today’s politically charged climate. As grant makers and philanthropy leaders, we cannot stay neutral. It is incumbent upon us as stewards of funds to build our skills in courageous conversations to NARROW THE POWER GAP and DRIVE EQUITY.
We have the opportunity to transform communities to actively engage in conversations impacting our communities and the people we seek to serve. Race and equity topics are now daily headlines in one way or another and we need to have a voice in these discussions. Our session is designed to equip you on how to personally process things you read and watch in the media and apply a critical inclusive lens in your everyday life.
Participants will:
- Read and analyze their own personal reaction a written op-ed
- Come ready to discuss their perspectives with the group
- Learn how to ask questions and stay curious when presented with information that may counter our perceptions.
- Build confidence in leading discussions with their peers
