Title – Vape and Mirrors: The Legal Issues Concerning e-Cigarettes for Municipalities

 

Description – The webinar will provide an in-depth discussion regarding electronic cigarettes (e-cigs); what they are; present and future regulation of their use at the federal, state and local levels; arguments for and against their use; enforcement tools; and emerging legal issues concerning the devices.

 

Speakers:

 

Tamara Bogosian represents public agencies in litigation as of counsel in the Municipal Law practice group of Best Best & Krieger LLP. Her practice focuses on civil rights, police liability, Pitchess motions and code enforcement, including marijuana litigation. She has been practicing public law in city attorneys’ and district attorneys’ offices in California for 16 years. Tamara began her career as a deputy district attorney with the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office in 1999. In 2005, she joined the Fresno County District Attorney’s Office where she prosecuted driving under the influence and vehicle manslaughter cases. In 2006, Tamara joined the Fresno City Attorney’s Office where she was assigned to the civil litigation unit. In 2013, she was promoted to supervising deputy city attorney of the litigation unit working directly with the mayor, city council and city management on high level legal matters.

 

Andy Maiorano provides general and special counsel legal services to general law cities, charter cities and special districts as an associate in the Municipal Law practice group of Best Best & Krieger LLP. He focuses on planning, public safety (police and fire), land use and water issues for cities, police departments, fire departments and districts, water districts and irrigation districts. Andy is well versed in issues involving gun seizure and retrieval, land use and planning approvals, public safety regulations, the Brown Act, conflicts of interest, document privacy and confidentiality, and negotiations with state and local permitting entities. He is the assistant city attorney for the City of Fontana.
