Event Description

Welcome to the ISSTD Virtual Book Club Registration page.

We are getting ready to launch our next discussion for the Virtual Book Club on Monday, November 21, 2016. The book we are studying is a new text by Elizabeth Howell and Sheldon Itzkowitz, “The Dissociative Mind in Psychoanalysis: Understanding and Working with Trauma.” We are especially excited about this book as it is something of a ground breaking effort that bridges the gap in the extant literature between the theories of psychoanalysis and dissociation. This is a book whose time has come, and those of us who have embraced tenets from both of these orientations now enjoy ideas written here that put the two together.

As this is an edited text, we can also enjoy the fertility of multiple authors’ perspectives of this blending of typically disparate ideation. We have endeavored to enjoin with us not only the editors but many of the chapter authors in this book who have agreed to do so. This is exciting for us, and hopefully for you as well.

Our schedule will begin on Monday 11/21/16 with the first three chapters until Sunday 12/4/16. We will then engage many of the authors for the next eight weeks’ discussion which will be scheduled according to authors’ availability.  There will be a two week hiatus for the holidays from 12/19/16, resuming again on Monday 1/2/17. We will end on Sunday 2/12/17.

Please join us for this illuminating discussion.

Continuing Education Credits (up to 8 pending approval) will be available for a nominal cost, but the discussion is of course free to you as a member of ISSTD. Please join us!
