Welcome to the ISSTD Virtual Book Club Registration page.
The Virtual Book Club is pleased to announce our next book! Na'ama Yehuda's new book, "Communicating Trauma: Clinical Presentations and Interventions with Traumatized Children" provides an understanding of the effects of trauma as it is experienced and expressed from its most nascent stage. The beauty of this perspective is that it comes from that of someone who studies, assesses and treats language, development, and communication of children, and who understands the language, development, and communication of trauma and dissociation as well.
But before you write this off as only pertinent to clinicians treating kids, this book will lend hard won insight into the experience of developmental trauma from its inception and throughout childhood which can only be extrapolated by us when adults—often traumatized as children—are in our consulting room. We all need to more keenly discern our patients' experiences, which are often difficult for them to impart to us, and where our empathy can be assisted by our becoming as well informed as possible. Having a window into the traumatized child's experience, language and communication gives us just that.
It is with this wisdom and merit in mind that we invite you to join us for studying this book for eight weeks beginning April 25 and ending June 20. Please join the discussion as the author accompanies us while we absorb her wealth of knowledge and understanding.
Continuing Education Credits (up to 8 pending approval) will be available for a nominal cost, but the discussion is of course free to you as a member of ISSTD. Please join us!
A 20% discount is available on the purchase of the book through Routledge by entering promo code IRK71.
This is for ISSTD Members Only. If you are not yet a member and are interested in joining, please visit: http://www.isst-d.org/default.asp?contentID=216
