Web Event 01-25-17: What do the New Home Health CoPs Mean to you?

Event Description

On January 25, 2017, the National Association for Home Care & Hospice invites you to join home health regulatory experts for a presentation on the revised Home Health Conditions of Participation (HHCoPs).

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has issued a final rule the implements significant changes to Home Health Conditions of Participation (HHCoPs). The rule expands the standards for patient rights, care planning, and care coordination, and includes two new CoPs -- one for a quality assessment and performance improvement (QAPI) program and another for an infection control program. The revised HHCoPs go into effect July 13, 2017.

Although CMS has made several significant revisions to the HH CoPs throughout the years, many of the current CoPs had remained unchanged since their inception, therefore many of the revisions will present significant process, operational and cultural changes for agencies.

Home health agencies (HHAs) must meet the Medicare HH CoPs in order to participate in the Medicare program. Agencies that fail to meet any of the HH CoPs are at risk, at a minimum, for the imposition of a number of sanctions and potentially at risk for program termination
