Threat Modeling: Understanding Risks and Privacy Needs
Privacy and Security Learning Cluster

In today's world, protecting your data from everyone and everything can be overwhelming. An easier approach is to think about your unique needs. A great way to accomplish this is with threat modeling: a risk assessment technique to determine what you want to protect, and from whom. In this webinar we will learn to create a threat model and look at example threat models to illustrate their different privacy and security needs.

This webinar is part of the SEFLIN Privacy and Security Learning Cluster. To access the additional readings and discussions, please join the Learning Cluster by contacting Josh Stone (stone@seflin.org).

 Learning Objectives:

  • Understand the five main terms of threat modeling
  • Be able to help others assess their risks
  • Incorporate threat modeling into existing library classes and programs

Presenter: Josh Stone

Josh Stone is the Director of Digital Services for SEFLIN. Josh has over a decade of experience teaching technology courses to patrons and library staff. Currently he is a participant in the inaugural cohort of the Library Freedom Institute, a partnership between New York University and the Library Freedom Project to set up a network of online privacy advocates and trainers.
