Mentor Dinners bring professional women together to discuss what life is like as a female in the field of government relations.  The dinners are limited to 20 participants, participants have the unique opportunity to build close bonds with other WGR members. Two experienced industry professionals serving as the evening’s hosts, Ann Elise Davison , Director at PricewaterhouseCoopers Public Sector, LLP and Connie Myers, Government Relations Consultant, Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP. Ann and Connie will guide conversation, provide perspectives and share their own life experiences.

WGR Registration Fees must be paid in advance and are non-refundable. You may substitute someone else at your membership level for your registration without penalty; however, membership benefits are non-transferable. If your replacement is not in your membership sector, you will be responsible for the difference in fees.

Ann Davison
Director, PricewaterhouseCoopers Public Sector, LLP

Ann Davison has an accomplished career as a strategic communications and public affairs advisor to elected officials, government program officers, corporate executives, trade association and nonprofit leaders. She currently serves as a Director in the Public Sector division of PwC where she advises clients on strategies to more effectively engage the public and key stakeholders.  Her public sector experience includes working as a legislative assistant for two Florida Senators and an advisor to EPA Administrator Carol M. Browner in the Clinton-Gore Administration. Ann regularly briefed Cabinet Members, Congressional staff and media on EPA initiatives and was detailed to the Office of the Vice President to lead communications for a ground-breaking international science and environmental education program.  Ann also spent 15 years as a senior leader with two of the nation’s leading public affairs firms, Fleishman-Hillard and Burson-Marsteller, where she worked with government and private sector clients to transform their communications operations to adapt to the changing media climate and evolving expectations around transparency and authenticity.  A graduate of Duke University (BA) and Johns Hopkins University (MA), Ann is Vice Chair of a national nonprofit to prevent domestic violence, Saving Promise.  She is also on the board of the Duke University Student Publishing Company, The George Town Club and active in Women in Government Relations.

Connie Myers
Governmental relations consultant, Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP.

Experience:

  • Responsible for developing government relations strategies aimed at strengthening support for clients' interests in congressional and administrative activities
  • Represents clients before Congress and the Executive Branch

Previous Professional Experience:

  • Former Chief of Staff in the Office of Intergovernmental and Interagency Affairs at the U.S. Department of Education
    • Managed and was a leader of the department's national education outreach initiatives with educators, business and community leaders, and elected officials at the national, state and local levels
    • Represented the Secretary of Education on various boards and committees including the American Red Cross and the American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress and served on the Labor Management Partnership Council
  • Special Assistant to the Chief of Staff in the Office of the U.S. Secretary of Education while at the U.S. Department of Education
  • Legislative Assistant to U.S. House of Representatives member Butler C. Derrick
    • Responsible for state and federal issues on transportation, public works, economic development, grants and special projects
    • Managed policy issues related to legislation for consideration on the House floor and assisted in organizing task forces to monitor support of key legislative initiatives
  • Staff Assistant to the Chief Deputy Majority Whip in the U.S. House of Representatives
