Creating a Culture of Innovation

Anythink is a library that is designed to consistently delight customers. The moment you walk through the door, you should feel welcomed like you have discovered your own place of ideas and adventure. Anythink programs and experiences are intended to support the creativity and innovation of our community. How do you grow a team of creative innovators? It starts with adapting an internal structure that supports play, curiosity, learning and creativity.

Keynote Speaker: Pam Sandlian Smith

As Director of Anythink Libraries, Pam has worked with a collaborative team to reinvent libraries in Adams County, Colorado. Anythink is a library focused on participatory learning, creativity, community engagement and shifting perceptions of the role of libraries. Anythink has been awarded the IMLS 2010 National Medal of Honor for innovating library services and the 2011 John Cotton Dana award and the Library Journal 2011 Landmark Library Award. Ms. Smith was awarded the 2012 Charlie Robinson Award for innovation and risk taking in public libraries and was the Colorado Librarian of the year in 2010. Previously, Pam was the Director of the West Palm Beach Public Library, and the Manager of Children’s Services at the Denver Public Library. She serves on the Board of Directors for the Public Library Association and is a member of the working group for the Aspen Institute Dialogue on Public Libraries. Ms. Smith enjoys traveling, writing, baking pies, walking her Great Pyrenees, Buddy Einstein Doodle and inventing libraries that help people fall in love with learning.
