Gordon Johnson, P.E., BCEE, MWD Chief Engineer will moderate the panel. Gordon has responsibility for all of Metropolitan's engineering activities, including management of the Capital Investment Plan. He is responsible for facility planning, design, construction management, environmental planning, and infrastructure monitoring.
Dr. Jeremy Pal, Professor of Civil Engineering and Environmental Science at Loyola Marymount University (LMU), was one of the contributing authors on the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). He has conducted extensive research in climate change throughout the world. Dr. Pal will provide an overview of the science of climate change, the models, the drivers, and present some findings of his research on the impacts of climate change on SoCal.
Sarah Bartlett Sarah Bartlett is a MWD Resource Specialist in the Water Resource Management Group. She coordinates MWD's schedule for State Water Project deliveries with the California Department of Water Resources and administers MWD's contract for SWP supplies. She will discuss climate change-related impacts to imported supplies and Metropolitan's approach for achieving regional water supply reliability.
Lee Alexanderson, P.E., Civil Engineer with County of Los Angeles Department of Public Works will discuss how the County is collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to develop a climate resilient future for SoCal infrastructure through integrated planning and design. The County is performing climate vulnerability analyses on stormwater infrastructure and developing plans a for sustainable future by incorporating multiple watershed benefits.
