Location Information

The first governor of the Northwest Territory gave Cincinnati its name in 1790 in recognition of the Roman citizen soldier Cincinnatus and as an acknowledgment of the Society of Cincinnati, the nation's oldest patriotic organization.  The Society was founded in 1783 by officers of the Continental Army and their French counterparts who served together in the American Revolution.

During the first forty years after its founding, Cincinnati experienced spectacular growth. By 1820, citizens, extremely proud of their city, were referring to it as The Queen City or The Queen of the West.

And that name still rings true today.  Cincinnati’s history is rich with American Royalty.  It is home to the first professional baseball team, the Cincinnati Red Stockings (now known as the Reds). Five U.S. Presidents (William Howard Taft, Rutherford B. Hayes, Ulysses S. Grant, William Henry Harrison and Benjamin Harrison), Hollywood stars Doris Day, George Clooney and Steven Spielberg, and the first man to walk on the moon, Neil Armstrong, all called Cincinnati their home.

Join the American Academy of Attorney-CPAs next summer and receive the royal treatment as we explore the Queen City of the West together. Your stay will be filled with the rich history and modern amenities of this diverse city.
