The first governor of the Northwest Territory gave Cincinnati its name in 1790 in recognition of the Roman citizen soldier Cincinnatus and as an acknowledgment of the Society of Cincinnati, the nation's oldest patriotic organization. The Society was founded in 1783 by officers of the Continental Army and their French counterparts who served together in the American Revolution.
During the first forty years after its founding, Cincinnati experienced spectacular growth. By 1820, citizens, extremely proud of their city, were referring to it as The Queen City or The Queen of the West.
And that name still rings true today. Cincinnati’s history is rich with American Royalty. It is home to the first professional baseball team, the Cincinnati Red Stockings (now known as the Reds). Newport - Gangster Tour

Built in the 1900s this establishment has survived prohibition raids, mob scenes and filming of scenes from Rain Man and Airborne.
