Description

Hip Hop culture provides experiences that inspire, empower, and transform. Beat making, music production, and DJ-ing are commonly used in healthcare and educational settings to enhance participation and motivation towards change. This course will introduce participants to common beat making gear, discuss their therapeutic and educational potentials, and allow participants to gain experience using these tools.

Learner Objectives

Participants will identity the function and therapeutic application of music technology in a variety of clinical settings (I. D. 11)

Participants will identify cultural considerations of Hip Hop within a variety of clinical settings (I. D. 9)

Schedule:

30 minutes: Introductions and overview

1 hour: Therapeutic and Clinical Applications: Case Examples

10 min break

1hr and 30 minutes: Drum machines and synthesizers

10 min break

1hr and 30 minutes: Samplers and MIDI
