Description Qualitative research approaches are being recognized for their effectiveness in gathering and analyzing data sensitive to therapeutic nuances and cultural/gender identities. Music therapy studies, however, tend to rely upon traditional approaches such as interviews and observations to gather, analyze, and present data. Our field is ignoring the methodological and practical power of music in research and music as research. Practitioners, educators, and students interested in expanding their understanding and application of qualitative research methodologies are encouraged to attend. Participants are encouraged to bring either active or potential research ideas that can be worked with and discussed.
