Don't miss the special Pre-Conference trip in Little Rock, Arkansas!

Go back in history with the American Academy of Attorney-CPAs before the 2019 Fall Meeting & Education Conference in Little Rock, Arkansas, just 2 hours from Memphis, Tennessee.  Visitors will start on November 5 with a warm Southern welcome at the beautiful four diamond Capital Hotel.  The trip will feature networking, education, and a fabulous guided tour of Little Rock, visiting the famous sites of Little Rock Central High School - national historic landmark and site of the 1957 school desegregation crisis, the Villa Marre mansion - the house featured on Designing Women, the Old State House where President Bill Clinton gave his acceptance speech on election night, the Governor's Mansion, and a stop at the Clinton Presidential Library.                          

  

The Pre-Conference tour concludes on November 6 with transportation straight to the Peabody Hotel in Memphis for the official start of the 2019 Fall Conference.

 

The AAA-CPA has reserved a block of hotel rooms at the Capital Hotel at a special rate of $179 single or double occupancy plus applicable taxes.  The Capital Hotel will only guarantee these rates until Monday, October 14, 2019.  Reservations can be made by phone at (501) 374-7474 or toll-free 1-877-637-0037, or email

The Peabody Hotel - Memphis

With a style and tradition befitting one of Memphis' grandest, most legendary hotels, The Peabody Memphis offers a magnificent bridge between the "Blues City's" celebrated past and cosmopolitan present. This historic Forbes Four-Star, AAA Four-Diamond hotel offers a one-of-a-kind experience in the heart of Memphis.

The AAA-CPA has reserved a block of hotel rooms at the hotel at a special rate of $199 single or double occupancy plus a hotel service fee (HSF)* of $6.95 and applicable taxes. 

The Peabody will only guarantee these room rates until Monday, October 14, 2019. Reservations can be made by calling 1-800-PEABODY and asking for the AAA-CPA group rate, or online here. 

*HSF entitles all guests to wireless internet access in guest rooms and hotel lobby, unlimited local phone and 800 number calls, complimentary use of the Health Club, morning newspaper, overnight shoe shine, and coffee and tea service in the Deli each morning during designated hours.

 

Getting There:
The Peabody Hotel is located just over 10 miles from the Memphis International Airport.  Current rates are self-parking $20 per day and valet parking $29 per day for registered guests.  Hourly parking rates will apply for non-registered guests.  

Taxi service, Lyft and Uber are available for transportation to and from the Peabody and Memphis International Airport.

Tour of Memphis

Starting at the newly renovated National Civil Rights Museum, located at Lorraine Motel, the site of the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. assassination, we will explore exhibits that chronicle key episodes of the American Civil Rights movement.  Next is Sun Studios, the "Birthplace of Rock 'n Roll."  Legendary blues men like B.B. King, Howlin Wolf, and Rufus Thomas recorded their first albums at Sun Studios and other famous artists 
Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley, Carl Perkin, Roy Orbison and Jerry Lee Lewis were discovered and recorded here.
 

We'll conclude the tour by visiting Graceland and will be guided through the mansion with our own iPads to enjoy a deep dive into Elvis's life story.  The journey includes the decorated funky styles of the Jungle Room, racquetball court and Meditation Garden - where Elvis rests.  The tour will conclude back at the Peabody Hotel for an open evening to enjoy dinner or further explore Memphis.
